Tax Liens

A tax-lien is a legal claim against your property when you neglect or fail to pay a property debt such as property taxes, water bills, sewer, home maintenance, demolition and etc. Each year, the NYC Department of Finance sells open liens which can lead to a never ending cycling of piling debt. Third-party collection agencies are the primary buyers of tax-liens and can often add higher fees and interest to the existing debt and often leads to homeowners facing foreclosure. Additionally, if you have a lien on your property, it will automatically disqualify you for other programs such as our emergency home repair program.
